Asian Games Live: Dharun Ayyasamy Wins Silver In Men’s 400m Hurdles

Saina Nehwal opened India’s medal account on Day 9 of the Asian Games 2018. Saina won a historic bronze after losing to World No.1 Tai Tzu Ying of Chinese Taipei in women’s singles semifinals. In a match that lasted 37 minutes, the Indian lost in straight games — 17-21, 14-21. By virtue of this win, Saina became the only second singles player to win an Asiad bronze after Syed Modi, who had won a bronze in 1982. Apart from Saina, PV Sindhu defeated Akane Yamaguchi 21-17, 15-21, 21-10 to become the first-ever badminton singles player to reach the singles final event. Sindhu will now face World No.1 Tai Tzu Ying in the final. In hockey, India women’s team continued their fine form as they scored five goals to breeze past Thailand in women’s Pool B match. In Squash, India beat Indonesia in men’s team Pool B match and India women’s team beat Iran in Pool B match. In table tennis, India beat Macau in men’s team Group D match. The Indian women’s hockey team will play their group match against Thailand.
